What The Group Accepts For Its Galleries

GROUP NEWS

Good Day, Members!

Well, the month of October is here, and I don't know about you, but for me that means dark and scary. I usually always go dark during the month of October, but I also understand that some people do not like creating dark manipulations. So, since I simply must have at least one challenge that recognizes the traditions of this time of year, I decided to have two challenges going simultaneously.

I've done similar in the past, and it will go like this:
:bulletwhite: A. There is a Non-Halloween theme challenge and a Halloween  theme challenge.
:bulletwhite: B. These challenges will run exactly at the same time, which is for the next four weeks.
:bulletwhite: C. You can participate only in the Non-Halloween challenge if you prefer.
:bulletwhite: D. You can participate only in the Halloween challenge if you prefer.
:bulletwhite: E. You can participate in BOTH challenges if you've got the time and you love both themes.

Below is all of the information for the Non-Halloween Challenge.  You can find the information for the Halloween Theme Challenge here:

Hello Again!
As I mentioned in the previous journal, we are beginning two challenges at the same time.
:bulletwhite: A. There is a Non-Halloween theme challenge and a Halloween theme challenge.
:bulletwhite: B. These challenges run exactly at the same time, which is for the next four weeks.
Below are all of the information for the Halloween Theme Challenge.  The information for the Non-Halloween challenge can be found here:

Both Challenges Are Due On October 30th. Keep track of the end of these challenges on the Countdown Clock on the Home page.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR ENTRY:
As Always Let Me Take This Time To Remind New Members Something VERY Important

There are more and more pre-cut out stock for us to use now than there were eleven years ago when I started at deviantArt; AND there are a many more stock accounts that have 3D Rendered stock.

:bulletred: FIRST, Make Sure That The Cut Outs Are Legitimate Stock, not photos that the deviant is redistributing illegally. You do not want to contribute to someone's rights being infringed upon.

:bulletred: NEXT, we at ManipulateThis are Traditional Photomanipulators who use photo stock: However, it is okay to use 3D Rendered Stock with your Photo Stock. If you DO, PLEASE CATETEGORIZE AS DIGITAL ART > MIXED MEDIA, because that's really what it is.

You will find many good looking 3D Rendered stock that look like photos, so BE CAREFUL when searching and downloading!

NON-HALLOWEEEN CHALLENGE

Our Non-Halloween challenge is called  "Call Us Anthros" and it features a large variety of animal, reptile, and bird stock for you to choose from.

:bulletblue:DUE DATE: October 30th.
Please watch the Countdown Clock on our HOME page for the exact time of the due date in your area. Late entries will be added to the gallery but will not be accepted for the competition.

:bulletblue: THEME: Tengu, Pan, Harpy, Triton, Medusa, Kinnara, Sphinx, and the Minotaur all have the same thing in common.  They are creatures that are part human and part animal, or part human and part reptile, or part human and part bird. They are known as Anthropomorphic Beings; Anthros for short.

Anthro theme art is every where at deviatiantART. They are so popular that it now has its own category compared to 16 years ago when dA started. Our staff, SylversVolpe, suggested it, and I completely agreed that it's a cool theme for a challenge.

:bulletblue: ENTRIES: You Can Enter Twice. See Below On How To Enter When Your Photomanipulation Is Complete.

THIS IS WHAT WE'RE DOING

:bulletwhite: We're creating an image that includes TWO Anthros as the central characters.

:bulletblue: The environment that you place your characters in should be the right environment for them.
It can be an outdoor scene or an indoor scene, as long as it tells the viewer something about "who" your beings are if they really exist.

:bulletblue: Your image can be fantasy, surreal, or one that leans towards being conceptual. The difference?
:bulletwhite: Fantasy is more magical and whimsical.
:bulletwhite: Surreal is like a dream (things happen that shouldn't happen in real life or it can be nightmarish).
:bulletwhite: Conceptual is neither fantasy nor surreal, but it's not realistic either. In fantasy and surreal, there may be a story in the image, but there isn't in conceptual.

:bulletwhite:Keep your environment simple.  Let the Two Anthros be the spotlight of the scene, NOT the environment that they are in.

:bulletwhite: The two Anthros can be the same or different, as long as they relate to one another.

:bulletblue:DON'T Simply Replace A Human Head With An Animal Head. BE UNIQUE!!

EXAMPLES:
Vulture Dinasty by Scarletmcd Concoursnidoiseau by roserika   Mourning by asunder

The King And His Queen by TheFantaSim   Blind Fennec by pythos-cheetah   Kitsune by Ahyicodae

:bulletwhite: The animal or bird or reptile parts of your Anthro is your choice from the REQUIRED STOCK Found Below. However, if you need to use another stock to complete your character(s) (that is, a tail, paws, wings, etc.) it's okay to add different stock.

For example, the cat wearing the red dress above is actually made from two black cat photos.

:bulletblue: As long as you're using the head OR the body from the Required Stock, you are meeting the Anthro part of the  challenge.

:bulletwhite: Don't forget to make your characters more interesting by giving them hats, jewelry, ties, and other accessories.

REQUIRED STOCK CHOICES FOR THE NON-HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE

Remember: We Are Artist Who Use Photomanipulation As Our Medium.  You CAN And SHOULD:
:bulletblue: Make sure that the direction of your Light is consistent through out your scene.
:bulletblue: Edit a stock as you need to for the final result that you want: Remove or Add Something, Change Color, Up/Lower Saturation, etc.
:bulletblue: Use Brushes, Textures, Special Techniques And A Little Show Of Special Effects To Enhance Your Over All Image.
:bulletblue: Create a dynamic Scene!

We Are FINE ARTIST! Remember:

:bulletblue:  BE CREATIVE! It’s more than simply sticking one stock into a background stock!

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR DEVIATION IS COMPLETED--For COMPETITIVE AND NON-COMPETITIVE ENTRIES

Updated: August 4, 2016

:bulletblue: First, in the Artist's Comments box, make sure you post that your deviation is for the "Call Me Anthro" Challenge at ManipulateThis and include our icon.

:bulletblue: Second, have the level you're entering under (Level 2 for Beginners; Level 3 for Intermediate; Level 4 for Advance).

:bulletwhite: Choose your level carefully and accurately. A wrong level can affect your success in the group, and I want everyone to succeed!

:bulletwhite:If you're not sure about your level, please read a description of each level in the rules. manipulatethis.deviantart.com/… , or contact me and I'll be happy
to view your gallery and make a decision on your best fit for our group. Please don't go up a level until you and I decide that you are ready.

:bulletred: No Changing Levels From One Challenge To Another!  If you are not happy with a deviation, and still want to participate, please select NON-COMPETITIVE (follow instructions below
for Non-Competitive).

:bulletblue: Once you've uploaded to your art account, submit your deviation to ManipulateThis by selecting the group from the "Submit To Group" link on the right hand side of your original deviation. Or, if the group name is not there, select "Type A Group Name" and add our name. Submit to the FEATURED folder.

:bulletblue: Your entry must be approved before it's placed into the FEATURED gallery. I always move from the FEATURED folder to the challenge/contest/activity folder, so don't worry about that.

Remember, deviations that are NOT for the challenge will be declined.

:bulletblue: You will receive a confirmation message at your art account if the entry was accepted or not. If it's not accepted within a reasonable amount of time, check your Correspondence
messages to see if you received a comment telling you why.

:bulletblue: Please take care of any problem as soon as possible and reply to the comment so that we can accept your entry.

:bulletred: Sometimes I'll send you a note from your deviation telling you that something needs to be altered before the end of the challenge. Your entry has NOT been removed from the
challenge in such cases.

:bulletred:IMPORTANT! If the above happens and you do not delete the original deviation from your gallery, please send a group note so that I know to remove the original entry.

WHAT TO DO WITH A "NON-COMPETITIVE" ENTRY

:bulletwhite: Please follow the requirements for the challenge even if you are not competing.

:bulletwhite: Please include the same information in the Comments box as noted above for Comepetitive Entries.

:bulletwhite: Very Clearly, Write "NON-COMPETITIVE CHALLENGE ENTRY".

That's it!

I am here to help. If you have any questions or need my help, don't hesitate to contact me.

I'll even be happy to look at your deviation before you submit to the group. Simply send a note to my art account. You can upload to your sta.sh account if you like. Send me either the sta.sh link or the link of the original deviation in your gallery and I'll be happy to comment and help your privately before you submit.

Now go have fun and create some fascinating imagery! :D
